Ivanti Connect Secure authentication bypass CVE-2026-104935 actively exploited by UTA0576 to achieve root RCE

Perimeter gateway security alerts issued today confirm active wild exploitation targeting enterprise virtual private network gateways. Threat group UTA0576 is actively chaining an unauthenticated authentication bypass vulnerability with an unpatched privilege-escalation flaw to establish persistent root access across corporate network boundaries.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-104935 with a CVSS score of 8.6, impacts Ivanti Connect Secure ICS appliances. Unauthenticated remote adversaries transmit malformed HTTP headers to bypass login logic, subsequently executing an unpatched privilege escalation payload to acquire full operating system root rights. Forensic telemetry indicates the attackers deploy in-memory execution routines and anti-forensic scripts to evade disk-based endpoint detection tools, exfiltrate user directory credentials, and pivot into internal subnets.

Subverting secure remote access gateways exposes single sign-on sessions and internal corporate network segments. Because Ivanti Connect Secure appliances manage user SSL VPN tunnels, an unauthenticated root takeover allows threat actors to intercept transit traffic, extract user session tokens, and move laterally across internal enterprise subnets.

– Upgrade Ivanti Connect Secure appliances immediately to current vendor-supplied fixed release builds.

– Run the official Ivanti Integrity Checking Tool ICT to inspect filesystem footprints for hidden web shells or stealth implants.

– Restrict public internet routing to Ivanti management interfaces by placing control panels on isolated VLANs.

– Invalidate active remote access user session tokens and execute mandatory administrative account password rotations.

Perimeter remote access defense requires emergency patch execution and continuous integrity checking to ensure central access controllers remain shielded from unauthenticated root takeover chains. #CodeDefence #Ivanti #ConnectSecure #AuthBypass #RCE #UTA0576 #NetworkSecurity #AppSec #PatchManagement
