HPE releases security updates for 72 ArubaOS flaws including eight max severity RCE and auth bypass bugs

Enterprise networking vendor advisories published today urge immediate security updates across wireless gateway appliances. Hewlett Packard Enterprise released patches resolving 72 vulnerabilities in network operating system software, led by eight maximum-severity flaws allowing unauthenticated command execution.

The security updates resolve vulnerabilities across Aruba Operating System ArubaOS branches. The critical vulnerabilities involve authentication bypass flaws and underlying buffer overflow errors in command-line and web management interfaces. Unauthenticated remote adversaries on adjacent or public networks transmit malformed network packets to bypass administrative login controls, achieving arbitrary command execution under root privileges on access points and mobility controllers.

Subverting wireless infrastructure controllers destroys network boundary segmentation and access controls across enterprise facilities. Because ArubaOS gateways manage wireless user authentication, VLAN routing, and encryption keys, an unauthenticated administrative compromise allows threat actors to intercept transit traffic and pivot into internal subnets.

– Upgrade ArubaOS mobility controllers and gateway appliances immediately to official vendor-supplied fixed software builds.

– Restrict public and untrusted network access to ArubaOS web administration and CLI management interfaces.

– Place network management interfaces on dedicated out-of-band management VLANs isolated from standard user traffic.

– Inspect system audit logs across wireless controllers for unverified administrative logins or anomalous command invocations.

Perimeter network defense requires rapid software update execution and strict management plane isolation to ensure enterprise wireless infrastructure remains protected against unauthenticated command execution. #CodeDefence #HPE #ArubaOS #WirelessSecurity #RCE #AuthBypass #NetworkSecurity #AppSec #PatchManagement
