Chinese state hackers exploit BeyondTrust Remote Support zero day CVE-2026-102764 and erase security logs

Cyber threat investigation advisories published today confirm active state-sponsored zero-day exploitation targeting remote support platforms. Threat actors leveraged unauthenticated command execution logic to gain administrative access across corporate appliances and deleted forensic event logs to cover post-compromise activity.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2026-102764, impacts BeyondTrust Remote Support and Privileged Remote Access self-hosted appliances. Suspected Chinese espionage group Armory Castle weaponized the zero-day to deploy custom web shell backdoors, execute memory-resident proxy tools, and extract stored credentials. Forensic analyses confirm the group executed automated cleanup scripts upon completion, wiping web server access logs and system audit trails to prevent detection. Security updates have been distributed under advisory BT26-05.

Subverting privileged remote access appliances gives threat actors unmonitored access to internal network infrastructure. Because remote support platforms hold elevated administrative access to client endpoints, an unauthenticated host compromise permits state-backed actors to move laterally across enterprise networks while deleting event logs to blind security operations centers.

– Force immediate security update installation published under advisory BT26-05 across self-hosted BeyondTrust appliances.

– Centralize event log forwarding to off-box SIEM repositories to ensure log deletion routines cannot destroy forensic evidence.

– Inspect network perimeter traffic for unauthorized outgoing connections originating from remote support server subnets.

– Audit privileged user account credentials managed within remote access vaults and execute mandatory credential rotations.

Privileged remote access security relies on off-box audit logging and rapid patch execution to ensure administrative gateways remain protected against state-sponsored zero-day exploitation chains. #CodeDefence #BeyondTrust #ZeroDay #CyberEspionage #AppSec #IncidentResponse #Logging #ThreatIntelligence
